The Orthopaedics department at SN Krishna Hospital, Ujjain, treats injuries and diseases of the bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments. Our surgeons manage acute fractures in the emergency department and perform elective procedures including joint replacement and arthroscopy in a dedicated orthopaedic operation theatre.

We serve patients from Ujjain and a wide catchment area in Madhya Pradesh, offering a full range of services from fracture fixation and spinal surgery to soft-tissue reconstruction and physiotherapy-guided rehabilitation after surgery.

Conditions we treat

Fractures

Traumatic breaks of any bone managed conservatively or with surgical fixation depending on displacement and stability.

Osteoarthritis

Wear-and-tear joint degeneration causing pain and stiffness most commonly in knees, hips, and spine.

Ligament Injuries

ACL, PCL, and collateral ligament tears of the knee managed with bracing or arthroscopic reconstruction.

Spine Disorders

Prolapsed disc, spinal stenosis, and spondylolisthesis causing back pain and nerve compression.

Bone Infections (Osteomyelitis)

Bacterial infection of bone requiring prolonged antibiotics and sometimes surgical debridement.

Treatments & procedures

Fracture Fixation (ORIF/CRIF)

Open or closed reduction and internal fixation using plates, screws, nails, and wires.

Arthroscopy

Keyhole camera surgery of the knee and shoulder for ligament repair, meniscus trimming, and joint washout.

Spine Surgery

Discectomy, laminectomy, and spinal fusion for nerve compression and instability.

Total Knee & Hip Replacement

Replacement of severely arthritic joints with implants to restore pain-free movement and function.

How we treat our patients

Fracture management begins with plain X-rays and CT when needed, followed by closed reduction, immobilisation, or operative fixation according to fracture pattern and patient fitness. Elective patients receive pre-operative risk assessment and anaesthetic review. Physiotherapy is integrated from day one of admission to minimise stiffness and support early mobilisation.
