Nephrology at SN Krishna Hospital, Ujjain, provides specialist medical care for patients with chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and complex fluid and electrolyte disorders. Our team manages the medical side of kidney failure while coordinating with the Dialysis and Urology departments for patients who need renal replacement therapy or urological correction of obstruction.
Early detection of CKD in diabetic and hypertensive patients is a priority, with structured monitoring programmes to slow disease progression and delay the need for dialysis.
Progressive loss of kidney function most commonly caused by diabetes and hypertension.
Sudden decline in renal function due to sepsis, dehydration, medications, or obstruction.
Heavy protein loss in urine causing swelling, low albumin, and increased clotting risk.
Kidney damage caused by long-standing diabetes requiring tight glucose and blood pressure control.
Immune-mediated inflammation of the kidney filters causing proteinuria, haematuria, and impaired function.
Ultrasound-guided needle biopsy of the kidney to diagnose glomerular and interstitial disease.
Evaluation and planning of arteriovenous fistula creation or tunnelled catheter for dialysis.
Initiation and patient training for home-based peritoneal dialysis as an alternative to haemodialysis.
Patients with CKD receive a baseline assessment of kidney function, blood pressure, proteinuria, and metabolic parameters. Management plans address the underlying cause as well as complications including anaemia, bone disease, and cardiovascular risk. Dialysis initiation is planned electively where possible, and patients are counselled about all renal replacement options including peritoneal dialysis and transplant referral.
Nephrology OPD runs Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 1 PM. Acute kidney injury emergencies are managed 24 hours through the emergency department.
A referral from your physician or diabetologist is helpful but not mandatory. You may also book directly through the OPD.
Bring recent creatinine, urea, eGFR, urine protein, and electrolyte results. An ultrasound of the kidneys and any previous biopsy reports are also useful.
