Dedicated care at SN KrishnaNeonatology

SN Krishna Hospital's Neonatology unit provides level-II neonatal intensive care for premature babies and sick newborns born at the hospital and referred from surrounding areas in Madhya Pradesh. The NICU is staffed round the clock and equipped for mechanical ventilation, phototherapy, and central line management.

Our team works closely with the Obstetrics department to ensure a smooth transition at birth for high-risk deliveries. Family-centred care is encouraged: parents are involved in daily rounds and trained in kangaroo mother care to support their baby's development.

Conditions we treat

Preterm Birth

Babies born before 37 weeks needing respiratory support, temperature regulation, and nutritional optimisation.

Neonatal Sepsis

Bloodstream infection in newborns requiring urgent blood culture, IV antibiotics, and close monitoring.

Respiratory Distress Syndrome

Lung immaturity in preterm infants causing breathing difficulty, managed with CPAP or mechanical ventilation.

Neonatal Jaundice

Elevated bilirubin requiring phototherapy or exchange transfusion to prevent neurological injury.

Birth Asphyxia

Oxygen deprivation at birth requiring neonatal resuscitation and therapeutic hypothermia protocols.

Treatments & procedures

CPAP & Mechanical Ventilation

Non-invasive and invasive respiratory support for premature and sick newborns with lung disease.

Phototherapy

Intensive LED light treatment to break down elevated bilirubin and prevent jaundice complications.

Umbilical Line & IV Access

Central venous and arterial access via umbilical vessels for monitoring and medication delivery.

How we treat our patients

Newborns are assessed immediately at birth using standardised resuscitation protocols. NICU admissions are monitored continuously with documented care plans updated at each shift. Nutrition is optimised through expressed breast milk and parenteral support when feeding is not yet established. Discharge planning starts early, with follow-up developmental assessments scheduled before the baby leaves the unit.
